KENT NEWS: The firearms team and dogs unit have surrounded a flat in the centre of Tunbridge Wells while police negotiate with a man who has barricaded himself inside. A section of Crescent Road is shut while officers deal with the incident, which began at around 11.30pm on Monday and continued overnight when two people were moved out of nearby premises.

Police said they were called to reports of a disturbance at a flat and antiques shop in the road and have been dealing with the situation since last night.

The man was throwing funiture out of the shop and threatening to harm people.

Access to Crescent Road, which was completely shut overnight, is now limited including the multi-storey car park and businesses in the area. Motorists have been advised to avoid the area as there are delays in the town centre.
