Fisher v Tunbridge Wells
Kick-off 3pm at Champion Hill
Tunbridge Wells look to end their dismal recent away record tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon as they travel to face lowly Fisher at Dulwich Hamlet’s Champion Hill ground.
Wells have won only one of their last six away games but they will take solace in the fact Fisher have lost eight of their last 10 games and have taken only two points from a possible 30 at home all season.
Having seen his side thrash Corinthian 4-0 in their last outing, Wells manager Martin Larkin is keen to accentuate the positives and believes his young side are on the up and can still secure a strong top-half finish this season.
He said: “We go up there with a squad we believe is better than theirs and we will have had five good training sessions. We’ve got games coming up against sides we could move above – Greenwich, Deal and Sevenoaks – we want to catch those sides and the games are coming thick and fast.
“It’s very difficult for Fisher because they’re taking the scraps from Erith & Belvedere, Beckenham and Croydon. We need to get the likes of Macca [Andy McMath], Keelan [Mooney] and Hooley [Carl Cornell] running at them – they’ve conceded 50 goals in 20 games so if we keep a clean sheet we’ll win the game.”
The signing of Mooney on dual-registration from Maidstone United has boosted Larkin’s attacking options and the striker is likely to start, while Tom Davey misses the game through work commitments.
Larkin said: “He’s thought of very highly at Maidstone, he’s an exceptional finisher and he’s been scoring some spectacular goals in training. He’s with us until the end of the season and it’s our job to give him a decision to make because we’d like to keep him beyond the summer.”
