Forecasters are warning the cold snap could last for another two weeks as Kent temperatures continue to struggle above zero.

Temperatures plummeted to minus eight in some areas last night and the Met Office says it will remain icy for the rest of the week.

It means motorists are still urged to take extra care on roads as ice continues to be a hazard.

And there’s still a chance of more snow, with flurries forecast up until the weekend.

A Met Office spokesman said: “It will continue to be very cold with a bitter breeze. A few snow flurries are likely - mainly over Kent. Temperatures will struggle to rise above freezing in many places, The maximum temperature will be one degree C.

“Tonight there will be light snow flurries, gradually dying out and there will be a widespread frost. Temperatures will drop to minus four.”
