Three games in eight days
A CRUCIAL period for Tunbridge Wells begins at the Culverden Stadium on Saturday, when they host Erith Town in a rearranged Kent League Premier Division fixture.
Martin Larkin’s side will then entertain VCD Athletic on Tuesday night before travelling to Erith & Belvedere next Saturday to conclude a run of three games in eight days that will have a huge bearing on the course of their season.
“We’re all very excited about actually playing again because it’s like we’ve had a mini mid-season break,” said Larkin.
“We’ve had double training sessions on Thursday and Monday and we’ve been using a new performance gym in Tunbridge Wells that‘s also used by the rugby club. It’s a bit different to regular gyms and we’ve had a really good response from the lads.”
Aside from Carl Cornell, who remains out for the long term, Larkin has a full squad to choose from, with defender Perry Spackman tipped to return.
Striker Charlie Ottway, who was expected to make his debut against Erith Town last Saturday before the weather intervened, is in line to start.
■ Tunbridge Wells are mourning the death of their former captain Mark Moore. Moore was part of the Wells team that won the Kent League title in 1984-85 and skippered them to the Kent League Cup in 1988, the club’s last senior honour.
