Ray Turner not looking to do any more deals
Faversham boss Ray Turner insists he is happy with his new squad as they start their pre-season fixtures next week.
Turner has strengthened throughout his side bringing in four midfielders, a defender and goalkeeper who are part of 24 who returned to pre-season training.
He is set to trim that number to 18 over the weekend before they play their first friendly against Canterbury City on Tuesday night.
“I’m not looking to bring any more in, I’m happy with the group I have got and will be looking to trim it to 18,” he said.
“It’s unlikely unless things dramatically change, or if we get a few serious injuries.
“We are trying to improve on last year, there is a lot more experience in the core of the side and we have got some young players around them. Everyone is optimistic.
“We try to be as ambitious as possible, we are certainly looking to improve.”
He stopped short of setting any targets publicly though, stating: “Any targets will be set within our own group at the moment.”
The Canterbury match, which is a 7.45pm kick-off at the Shepherd Neame Stadium, is the first of six home pre-season games as they play Welling on July 21, Erith and Belvedere on July 26, Faversham Harlequins on July 28, Hastings United on July 31, and Hollands and Blair on August 4.
“It’s always difficult to judge first games, I’m hoping to give everyone at least 45 minutes each,” he said. “We have had a couple of minor injuries that have been treated, but everyone has come through the training okay.”
