Tredwell takes two wickets as England complete series whitewash
Kent’s James Tredwell took two wickets to help England to a series whitewash over Australia.
Tredwell was included in the squad as a replacement for Graeme Swann who was rested and held his own as they clinched a seven-wicket win against the tourists at Old Trafford.
He got off to a great start as England won the toss and decided to bowl, trapping opener David Warner lbw with his fourth delivery.
He then broke the stumps to run out Peter Forrest from Samit Patel’s throw, before taking his second wicket as Matthew Wade was stumped by Craig Kieswetter from a turning delivery.
It left him with figures of 2-23 from his seven overs, which included one of two maidens for the England bowlers.
Australia finished on 145 for 7 from 32 overs. England were given a revised total of 138 from 29 overs after the rain affected play, which they easily reached thanks to half-centuries from Alistair Cook and Ravi Bopara.
